The glove compartment is a storage location in cars and trucks. Originally designed to hold gloves in cold weather, it has evolved to the kitchen junk drawer of the mobile world.

Most folks store their vehicle documents in the glove box, including copies of the state registration and insurance paperwork. Other things find their way into the box as time goes on. As an example, I keep the original manual that came with the vehicle, specialized spare keys for things like the bar lock on the trailer hitch, and a twenty dollar bill in case I ever am in a situation where I need fuel but my debit or credit card does not function.

Probably the rarest thing one finds in the glove compartment these days are actual gloves.
