Funeral Doom is a sub-genre of
Doom or
Doom Metal. It carved its own niche by adding extra textures of
epic melancholy and mournful,
eerie,
delirient heartbeat over the
painfully slow base.
Bands of this genre carry the incense burning, dusty, churchyard ambience or one of a religious or sci-fi
mythos and it's ever so beautiful once you understand it and
resonate with it.
I think the title for this genre is quite apt, it finds its
wispy claws tearing into your soul just as smoke bruises the sky and fills you with
that ache that makes you feel so very human.
Some bands perhaps? Try Pantheist, Mournful Congregation, Esoteric...
