Forgiven

Cancer stricken emotions writhe in their skins imploring with fixed stares to be heard. Their feeble fists bruising the backs of my eyes. Their cracked and bleeding nails clawing my words. In a last attempt they scrape across my cheeks, hoping to brand my features with evidence. Exhaustion rings in my ears, but I am undaunted. With an unfettered voice I call them by name, and lay them down to die with a gentle hand.
