Term invented by opponents of the Church of Scientology to
describe an incident in which the CoS shoots itself in the foot. The term was invented because
CoS seems to do this so frequently that it would be useful to have
a short term to describe it (plus the term itself is a good way to
make fun of CoS). Good examples of this is when the CoS attempted to
shut down the newsgroup alt.religion.scientology, and other
incidents where it was basically CoS
versus the rest of the Internet. Their actions on the Internet
gained them many, many enemies who otherwise would never have given
Scientology a second thought.
