Overview
The Fibular, or Peroneal, Veins are a system of veins that run from the ankle to just below the knee.
Course
The Fibular Veins are known as Vena Comitants or accompanying veins.
They follow the course of the Fibular Artery, draining blood from the
lateral section of the calf, before emptying into Posterior Tibial
Vein.
Etymology
Fibular refers to the veins proximity to the Fibula. Fibula is
from the Latin for "clasp" or "brooch", refering to the way it seems
to clasp the Tibia. Peroneal is from the Greek perone, for pin.
