A wonderful drink for sitting on the lanai during summer evenings when all there is to care about is the morrow's sailing.

Fill a pint glass with cold ginger ale, garnish with a wheel of lime, then gently pour a jigger of dark rum into it. The rum should hover ominously at the top of the glass like a storm cloud on the horizon. There is nothing particularly ominous about one of these drinks (two is another matter, and three should oblige a small craft advisory).

GrouchyOldMan tells me that the Woods Hole Yacht Club makes a fine dark and stormy, using Black Seal Rum. According to him, the drink originates from the northestern coast of the United States.
