Cysticercosis is said to be the commonest cause of epilepsy worldwide.

Scarring of brain tissue caused by Taenia solium infection raise the affected individual's susceptibility to seizures. Seizures are the most common symptomatic presentation of cysticercosis.

The current recommended anti-parasitic drugs for cysticercosis are Praziquantel (Biltricide) and Albendazole (Albenza).
