cruising

Cruising is what teens in small towns (or even some big cities) do when they're bored and there isn't a decent hangout within driving distance. The actual act of cruising is just what it sounds like: you drive around with no specific destination in mind. In practice, it usually takes place with a group of friends (almost always of the same gender) in the vehicle, with the primary goal of finding an equal number of members of the opposite gender. cruising: vernacular term, especially among gay people, for the overt manifestations and responses of the proceptive sexuoerotic phase that indicate one's availability and attractedness toward a potential sexual partner. See also compulsive cruising.
