This is the broad term used to refer to connecting computers and telephones.
Examples: retrieving your balance from your bank via phone, voicemail. Single line telephony is supported under Linux using vgetty, but more advanced multiline applications are not. At least not until one of the major board makers (Dialogic, Rhetorex, Natural Microsystems) either makes drivers, or provides specs.
One more thing that SCO and Windows NT do that Linux does not.

Computer telephony, a misnomer, was the idea of replacing big, closed, proprietary computers made by the likes of Octel, with PCs equipped with voice processing cards made by the likes of Dialogic, Natural Microsystems andRhetorex. It succeeded in reducing Octel's costs, rather than creating revolutionary change. Computer telephony APIs, like TAPI, are not available on Linux. The best remedy would be for Dialogic to port their S.100 implementaion, and their board dirvers, to Linux.
