An ontology for classification of works in a library---that is an arrangement of works according to the prejudices of the day.

The Library of Congress Classification System and the Dewey Decimal Classification System are the two widely known general purpose Classification Systems, but there are also a number of subject-specific Classification Systems, for example the World Patents Index Classification System, the International Patent Classification System, the ACM Computing Classification System and the IEEE Internet Computing Classification System, all of which cover a narrow range of subjects in great detail.
