Cigarette karma is a true and scary thing. Once when I was working in the restaurant at the Omni Netherlands Plaza, a fiercely niccing guest asked me for a cigarette. The closest shop selling smokes had closed at 11:00, and this woman needed it BAD. All I had on me were my precious Nat Sherman Hint of Mints (Brown paper), the filet mignon of nicotine. I was about to refuse, looked into her eyes... and cringed. I gave her three of my Nats and a huge smile.

The next night she returned to the restaurant armed with two packs of Nats-one for me! She thanked me profusely for her "Newest addiction," and tipped me generously when I served her.

Long live cigarette karma!
