Slang for a pair of
Charles Taylor All-Stars shoes from
Converse. Basically a pair of
high tops made out of
canvas, with
metal eyelets. The sole is a
rubber waffle pattern.
Advantages: cheap, lightweight, breathable, and stylish, when I was in middle school in the midwest in the mid-80s. Also a good choice of shoe for vegans. The soles are also very quiet, so they're good for sneaking.
Disadvantages: Poor arch support. Poor traction on anything other than concrete.
