A marvelous Cuban/Caribbean restaurant in the Haight in San Francisco. Given the seedy character of the neighborhood, the best way to get there is by the #71 bus. The restaurant takes no reservations, so you'll have to pass the significant wait for a table by drinking their wonderfully potent sangria. It's either that or risk becoming another chalk outline by waiting outdoors. When I dined there, I was under strict orders by a former Haight-Ashbury resident to try the spicy, creamy chicken paillard, which did not disappoint anyone in my dinner party. It says a lot when people spending less than a week in San Francisco decide to eat at the same out-of-the-way restaurant two nights in a row, which is exactly what we did.
