A class of solid rocket propellants that utilize sugar (sucrose) as the fuel (hence the name). Candy propellants tend to have mediocre specific impulses, but the relative low cost and availabilty of sugar makes it popular amongst amateur rocket builders. Another advantage of candy propellants is that the exhaust products of sugar when combined with oxygen are all gaseous. This means that if sugar is coupled with an all-gaseous oxidizer, the resulting rocket will produce very little smoke.
