In April 1996 a tiny monkey the size of a mouse was discovered in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, in China. It was thought to have been extinct. It had been known to Chinese scholars, such as the philosopher Zhu Xi (Chu Hsi), who lived 1130-1200 and was a sometime official in the Song Dynasty. They kept the monkeys as pets and trained them to prepare ink, pass brushes to them, and turn pages.




Can anyone supply further detail on this (by write-up or /msg)? It came from a Reuters story and I kept the paragraph from The Independent. The only trace I can find of it on the Web is a Fortean Times site I can't get into, which appears to be quoting the same Reuters feed.
