Bradykinesia refers to extreme slowness of movements or reflexes. The term usually indicates a neurological problem, not a problem with muscles. Patients with Parkinson's disease frequently suffer from this problem; if you ask them to get out of a chair, they'll do it...but it'll take a while. Bradykinesia is also evident in patients with multiple sclerosis, catatonic schizophrenics, and some stroke victims. The treatment can range from physical therapy to drug therapy, depending on the disease that's causing the problem.
