A
blessing in
disguise is something that seems at first to be a bad thing, but turns out to be a good thing. Like that
summer camp your
parents forced you to attend against your wishes, where you met your
lifelong best friend, or the time the big
game was rained out so your all-star
crush was free to give you your
first kiss.
Blessings in disguise are similar to mixed blessings, or the concept of every cloud having a silver lining. It's often annoying to be told to look on the bright side or to count your blessings, but it sure feels wonderful when that realization hits and you can recognize the blessing behind its disguise.
