Bioregional, bioregionalism, bioregion...

Having to do with one's life place. The bioregional perspective was seeded largely by an organization called Planet Drum, based in San Francisco, and begun in 1973 ( Planet Drum Foundation - http://www.planetdrum.org ).

A bioregion is typically based on watersheds and other natural features such as topography, biotic communities, and cultural phenomena.

Bioregionalists work toward both ecological and cultural sustainability and cooperation. These "life places" form an important unit of focus and emphasis in this effort.
