A word of my own invention, which is therefore (until now) part of only a few select friends' vocabularies. Its origin is as a phonetic reversal of the word plethora, which (as you know) means a surplus. To a sufficiently sick mind, it makes perfect sense that reversing the letters of a word should produce a new word with the opposite meaning.
Word puzzle of the day: find an English word whose reversal (or at least approximate reversal) is its opposite. I don't know of any solutions, but I haven't really thought about it.
