Applied philosophy is the predecessor of all modern science. It comes from the time when the distinctions between physics, chemistry and biology were arbitrary and not very relevant to its practitioners. Typical of the giants of applied philosophy is that they dabbled in many disciplines. They lived in an era when an erudite person could know the sum total of the knowledge of that time without having to worry too much about the further classification into science categories and sub-specialities.
