Apocrine is a term for exocrine glands which release fluid directly into the external world. Apocrine secretions produce slight damage to the cells responsible.
Funnily enough, apocrine glands are not apocrine—they are eccrine.
Mammary glands are apocrine in that they release a fluid without an intermediary.
