An "answer" to a hit song, often done by an unknown, hoping for a ride on the coattails of the hit's popularity; a not-uncommon practice of the 50s/60s. Smokey Robinson and the Miracles debuted with "Got a Job", based on The Silhouettes' "Get a Job". Etta James' "Wallflower (Roll With Me, Henry)" answered Hank Ballard's "Work With Me Annie". These songs rarely reached the fame of the originals (Etta's did) - the point, usually, was to just get a foot in the marketplace's door. It worked for Smokey.
