The
Akai Electric Company Ltd. was founded in
1929 by
Masukichi Akai, and initially served as a manufacturer of general electrical parts.
An
electronic musical instrument department was created in
1983, and the following year Akai's first instrument, the
Micro Studio System, was announced.
In addition to being the most famous manufacturer of
digital sampler units, Akai has also produced
keyboard synthesizers and many different
recording tools.
