A form of quartz that usually has a green, jade-like colour, and which is striking because it incorporates platy particles of mica, or sometimes haematite. These give it a glittering appearance which changes as it rotates.

The main deposits of adventurine are in the Ural and Altai mountains of Russia, with lesser amounts in India, Europe, and North America.
