Most common in monster movies and anime productions, a YWAU, or “Your Weapons Are Useless” scene is one in which the good guys (or occasionally the bad guys) launch an all-out attack against a single, smug bad guy (or occasionally, a single, smug good guy) with everything they have, missiles, rockets, bullets, lasers, martial arts fireballs, nuclear warheads, neutron bombs, what have you, yet their combined effect is not even enough to wipe the annoying smirk off their target’s face. This is usually followed by the target snapping his fingers, grimacing momentarily, or blowing his nose, an act which results in the instantaneous destruction of the assembled masses. See dust cloud.
