It was time to leave again. He didn't want to deal with the situation.

Death was not something he wanted to hear about or have to go through, whether his own or someone else's. So he bent his knees slightly, then quickly straightened them out again.

And his universe was gone.

The previous one anyway. Worlds and existences flashed by before him, like the spinning symbols on a slot machine. And like a slot machine, he never knew where he would land. But always it was a world much like the previous one, with a few changes. And he would keep jumping through the multiverse until he found one he liked.

Today he didn't want to hear about the death of his grandmother. So he jumped and jumped until he landed in a world where she had not passed away that morning. Not today.
