Navigating through the Boston Metro Area (Massachusetts USA), if you're new there, is kind of like moving through Everything. There are all these places in the Boston area you know, having been there either from someone else driving or from taking the T. Then, one day, you're driving away from one place you know - and suddenly, you're approaching another place you know, and you say "oooohhhh, so that's how those are connected..." And from then on, you know how to get from one to the other, kind of like soft links. Taking the T is like a hard link, because there's only one way to go and it's the direct route where you can't look at the scenery.
