A holiday celebrated on May 10 in Springfield and among fans of The Simpsons.

Begun by Jebediah Springfield in 1775, Whacking Day is an occasion on which the populace try to flush the local snakes out into the city square, then whack them all with clubs. As esteemed a personage as Richard Nixon has been associated with this jolly entertainment.

Be sure to keep Barry White away from the area when you're whacking; he helped Bart and Lisa save the snakes from their cruel fate.
