A Wexelblat Disaster is a second order effect of natural phenomena on human-made technology. It's not the natural effect that does the damage, but the human technology (e.g. a storm causes an oil tanker to sink, oil spills, ...).
Named after Alan Wexelblat, MIT Media Lab scientist. The term was coined by Bruce Sterling, science fiction writer and activist with a focus on the greenhouse effect.
