Of all the insects out there, wasp larva must easily be the nastiest. Many different species of wasp need the bodies of other insects to raise their young - and traditionally, these insects are still alive as the larva feed on them. Some species specifically go for the heart and brain last to keep the insect alive as they eat it. One species of wasps actually seek out other wasp larva so they can lay their eggs and provide the larva with a meal of both the beetle and the larva of the wasp who took the beetle in the first place.
