Walnut, Iowa is located just 40 miles east of Omaha, Nebraska and 80 miles west of Des Moines, Iowa on Interstate 80 exit 46. Walnut was designated as Iowa's Antique City in 1987 by then Governor Terry Branstad. Today, there are over 15 separate antique shops and three Bed and Breakfast's in this town of 900 people.

Antique and gift shops in 1900s storefronts line the brick streets. Replicated sign art featured on several buildings. Special events include the Amvets Antique Walk and the Christmas Antique Walk.
