The book which probably best represents Kerouac's style of spontaneous prose was Visions of Cody a re-write of On the Road which reads more like a character study. The first couple of chapters contain literary sketches of various scenes and characters around New York City, Denver and various spots in between. The books also contains a couple of chapters which are entirely composed from taped conversations between Jack Duluoz (Kerouac's alter-ego) and Cody Pomeray (AKA Neal Cassady).
