Vicki Sue Robinson recorded the 1976 hit ``Turn The Beat Around,'' which was was widely considered the disco anthem of that dancing decade.

Robinson's influences ranged from the blues of Dinah Washington to the folk stylings of Pete Seeger. She made her singing debut at age 6 with her mother at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

As a teen-ager, she appeared on Broadway in ``Hair'' and ``Jesus Christ Superstar.''

When she hit the recording studio, she struck gold with ``Turn The Beat Around,'' one of the biggest hits of the disco era. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for best female vocalist and earned a Billboard Award for the No. 1 pop album.

Robinson recently joined in a disco revival, touring with K.C. and the Sunshine Band, The Village People and Gloria Gaynor.
