A nitrogenous base, usually found in RNA. The complement of adenine and its counterpart in DNA is thymine

Sometimes spelt with an S : Urasil.

It is demethyl-thymidine.

Smile: N1C(=O)N=C(N)C=C1

The RNA nucleotide uracil is complementary to the DNA nucleotide thymine.

The structural formula for uracil is:

     H        H
      \      /
       C -- N
      //     \
H -- C        C == 0
      \      /
       C -- N
      //     \
     O        H
