Umar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir is the president/dictator of Sudan, a country in north Africa. He took power when he and a couple of other military officers (he was a colonel at the time) overthrew the current regime in 1989. He disbanded the parliament and outlawed political parties.

He won the last election by a large majority. (Surprise, surprise!)
