In order to provide a more lasting and
durable finish, than say a
nitrocellulose lacquer,
UV coatings were developed. After
application a UV Cured coating is
hardened or
baked under
high power UV Lamps. Often the finished product is put through an entire UV
line. Used for many
wood coatings, it is commonly used in
hardwood flooring.
An interesting side note on UV Cured Coatings. If you get some of the catalyst on your shoe and go out into the sun your shoe will start to smoke!
