United States Anti-Doping Agency is the governmental body in the US which is charged with carrying out the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code along with any clarifications added by the International Olympic Committee and the Medical Commission.

The sport NGB (National Governing Body) also has the right to test for alcohol and cannabinoids (e.g. marijuana, hashish, cannabis), and to impose sanctions in the event of a positive test. The USADA athlete guide packet contains in boldface, underlined: At the Olympic Games, tests will be conducted for cannabinoids. (This packet was published and issued in December 2000, so the games they are referring to are the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Games, and the Athens 2004 Summer Games.)
