An event that took place in the fouth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. One champion from the three schools of wizardry are chosen to represent their school and compete in a series of tasks (many of which are life threatening) in order to win glory for their school and a considerable amount of prize money. Any wizard wishing to compete in the Triwizard Tournament puts his or her name into the goblet of fire which chooses the wizard most worthy from each school. Once chosen, the champion is bound to compete in the tournament. The point of the tournament is to foster friendship between wizards of different nations.
