Propagandhi's third full length album comprised of new songs, Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes, marked a slight departure from the band's previous sound.
The replacement of John Sampson with Todd, formerly of Swallowing Shit, had the group incorporating more hardcore elements into their music, which was evident on such tracks as, "Fuck The Border", "Ordinary People Do Fucked-Up Things When Fucked-Up Things Become Ordinary", and "Bullshit Politicians". Other songs also developed a more "mature" (for lack of a better word) feel to them, with a bit less jokey-ness (a la "This Might Be Satire"), and a less pop-punkish sound, although Propagandhi wasn't even pop punk in the first place.
Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes is an excellent album overall, even though it may be a bit different from the band's older material.
