The popular saying is "It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." (from Alfred Lord Tennyson
). However, a careful reading of that doesn't imply that you should always jump at any chance of love
. It implies that you will be enriched by knowing what love is, even if you lost.
I'd like to also point at another saying: "If you deliberately set out to be less than you are capable, you'll be unhappy for the rest of your life."
-Abraham Maslow. You'll need to decide for yourself what "more" and "less" than you are capable are. However, the trivial answers are not always right.
