Thunderfuck was one of the names - among Nixon, Helldriver, Blitzer and a multitude of others - which James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Ron McGovney and Lars Ulrich considered for their young band in 1982. At the same time, their friend Ron Quintana had created a heavy metal fanzine and hesitated between a few names for it, one of which happened to be "Metallica". Lars and James thought this would be a proper name for their band and persuaded Quintana to call his magazine "Metal Massacre" instead.

Thunderfuck is also the last song on The Wildhearts album Endless, Nameless (1997).
