A team of six Autobot cars, intended to replace the minibots of earlier years with dubious improvements such as larger size, simpler transformations (they all transformed in the exact same way), and a pull-back-and-go motor which worked in either vehicle or robot mode. The motor was what took up most of the space under the car, and its size and shape caused the vehicle and robot modes both to be rather chubby-looking and boring.
The Throttlebots had a brief appearance in the American cartoon episode "Rebirth" and a rather larger role in the Japanese "Headmasters" episodes, where their robot modes were made taller, slimmer, and overall more "normal"-looking.
