Once upon his lifetime

He grew to bear a grudge,

For his foe had wronged him onetime

So his foe he now did judge.

His grudge grew ever stronger

And became a wall of hate,

Its shadow grew yet longer

And his heart it caused to break.

He left his normal life behind

To seek and slay his foe,

For when his grudge did come to mind

It was all that he could know.

When at last he saw his foe

Alone beneath the stars,

He smote him down with a single blow

Then gazed at his own scars.

All his life spent hunting

All his life now spent,

There was no cause for him to live

For down with his foe he went.
