Looking out from a high-rise in
Toronto, I noticed something obvious but also somewhat oblivious to the average on-looker.
The highways are the capillaries of the earth.
Just like our own body have capillaries (not regarding veins), it seems as though one would not notice that this world is alive without the motion of automobiles on the highways and roadways. A person is not large enough to be noticable from a high point of view, but the cars are. The amount of traffic flow that is contained on the roadways of a city indicates the pulse-state. The faster the traffic flows, the more efficient the city (or the earth) operates. The healthier the human is, the more capillaries are formed. Hence, the more expansive regions become, the more highways are developed and the more interconnected the earth becomes.
