Today I have had an epiphany.

I don't need to be told how to be swell, or a bad girl, or how to take a road trip, what to wear, how to be more interesting or what to do in my spare time.

It's my life.

And in my life there is no place for books like
  • "Swell: A Girl's Guide to the Good Life"
by Cynthia Rowley and Ilene Rosenzweig
  • "Three Black Skirts: All You Need to Survive"
    by Anna Johnson
    or
  • "The Bad Girl's Guide to the Open Road"
    by Cameron Tuttle
Someone else's instructions for life are not neccesarily instructions for my life. Or anyone else's for that matter.

Life is to be lived by experience, not by instruction.

And today I've ridded my life of guides to being a girl.

a boy named ben, or why i flagrantly ignore grammar conventions
