One of the first forms of tagging (gaffiti in the form of a nickname) appeared in New York City in the late 1960s with the appearance of Taki 183. Taki 183 was the tag of a Greek teen named Demetrius, 183 was the street he lived on. Although Taki 183 wasn't the first, (no one's sure who was) he was the first famous tagger and graffiti has never been the same going on to become some very artistic vandalism.
