The Wonderland Gambit

The Wonderland Gambit is a science fiction trilogy (only!) by Jack Chalker. The focus is on virtual reality and the blurred boundary the characters experience between virtual reality and the real reality. The characters start to notice that everything you think you know is wrong, and somehow the elusive Matthew Brand and his brand boxes are related to it, but how?... The movies The Matrix and eXistenZ are reminiscent of these books.
