Allow me to start off by saying that this establishment does not serve barbecued swan.
The White Swan is quite simply one of the best southern barbecue restaurants that I have ever paid a visit to. It is located in Smithfield, North Carolina, a few miles outside Four Oaks. The eastern region of North Carolina has already established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the barbecue world thanks to its distinct vinegar-based barbecue.
The atmosphere is everything one would expect from a barbecue joint---wood paneled walls, red and white checkered tablecloths and a ceramic pig or twelve. There's even an autographed picture of George "Goober Pyle" Lindsay, who apparently once stopped in for a bite.
Service is friendly, the restrooms are sanitary and the vinegar-based barbecue is darned good. So if you ever happen to be in Smithfield, North Carolina, definitely try this place out.
