Back to Greek and Roman Mythology
Back to Mother Earth and Father Heaven (Gaia and Uranus). It seems that Uranus wasn't exactly the best father. He hated the creatures Gaia had given birth to, and he took the hundred-armed ones and locked them within the Earth.

Gaia was enraged and asked one of her children to go to Uranus and give him a piece of her mind. Only one had the guts to do it: the Titan Saturn. He went to Uranus, staying out of sight until his dad came in, when he attacked and badly maimed Uranus. From the blood of Uranus (shut up, that's not that funny, stupid kids...) came the Giants and the Furies. The Titans managed to kill the Giants, but the Furies escaped, which is probably for the best, as the Furies' duty was to punish those who were evil. It's safe to say they got plenty of business.

Now Saturn was top of the heap and could do whatever he pleased. However, a prophecy was given to Saturn that one of his children would overthrow him as he himself had overthrown Uranus. Saturn would fear his offspring and do whatever it took to prevent the prophecy from coming true.
