The Nixons

A "post-grunge" alternative band out of Oklahoma City. The tag 'alternative' is somewhat misleading here, as their sound is definitely harder than your average R.E.M. or what have you. Original lineup: Zac Maloy, vocals/guitar; Jesse Davis, guitar; Ricky Brooks, bass; Ty Robison, drums. Current lineup: Zac Maloy, vocals/guitar; Jesse Davis, guitar; Ricky Wolking, bass; John Humphrey, Drums. As you can see, Maloy and Davis are the dynamic duo that make this band possible; Maloy's passionate vocals dancing around Davis' sinister and piercing guitar lines really makes the Nixons shine. The music is pretty straightforward rock, kind of like the Foo Fighters, but less gimicky. The lyrics (the ones I can understand) are thought-provoking, interesting, well-crafted, and well-sung. Overall, they are a refreshing change from the (currently) prevalent rap metal and indy rock.
